This is the hollowed out swell of a Gambel Oak branch that had been effected by mistletoe. The mistletoe causes mischief in the eood bringing about wonderfully twisted grain. I had been thinking about the work of Carl Jung, and the idea of our shadow self being an important part of our psyche.
